Class Memories

This was Emcee Brian Emmer's special WELCOME to the MFNHS Class of 1974 at our 50th Reunion Dinner on September 14, 2024.  I would like to express a special THANK YOU to Brian for this wonderful welcome message and for his excellent hosting duties, on behalf of the Class of 1974 and Reunion Committee.  This was a special evening and weekend that will serve as a highlight in our memory for the years to come.    - Cathy Tarantino Hazzard

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed classmates, and honored guests,

Good evening] and a heartfelt welcome to this occasion—Our 50th class reunion. It fills me with joy and nostalgia to stand before you today, surrounded by familiar faces and great memories. Though I wish Mac were here to speak, as he did at past reunions, I hope to modestly channel his spirit and convey with words his kindness and leadership.

To our beloved classmates who are no longer with us, let’s carry their memories in our hearts. Their absence reminds us of the fragility and preciousness of life. As we celebrate and cherish the bonds we have, let us also remember those who are no longer with us and keep their spirits alive through the stories we share.

( If we could take a moment of silence to remember those we have lost.)

Time has flown by, and it seems like just yesterday, and for some, today, when we were walking the halls of Menomonee Falls North, sharing laughter, tears, and countless memories. Tonight, we gather once again to reminisce about those unforgettable moments and celebrate the incredible journey we have all embarked upon since our graduation in 1974.  Though 5 decades have passed since then, nothing can dim the brightness of our bonds, and cherished moments together.

This reunion is not merely a trip down memory lane; it is an opportunity to celebrate our collective achievements and milestones. Each one of us has embarked on unique paths, carved our own destinies, and left lasting footprints in various spheres of life. Whether we pursued higher education, built successful careers, started families, or dedicated ourselves to making a difference, we have all played a part in shaping the world around us.

May this reunion be a reminder of our resilience, camaraderie, and enduring friendships that tie us together as a class. Let us embrace this opportunity to strengthen the ties that time may have tested, but never severed.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that we have two members of our esteemed faculty with us tonight Dick Woosencraft and his wife Chris and Ed Schlumpf and his wife Mary. Their dedication, passion, and commitment to our education laid the foundation for our collective successes.

( Please join me in expressing our appreciation for their tireless efforts.)

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the reunion committee for their tireless efforts in organizing this memorable weekend. Their dedication and hard work have made it possible for us to come together and celebrate our shared history.

( If you please stand when I call your name: Cathy, Mary, Kathy, Holly, Kerry, May, Mitch, Russ ,John, Brad, and yours truly.)  (Applause)

While this event honors our past, may it equally serve as motivation to pursue even greater things ahead. Reflect upon 50 years, and the things we learned together and use them to enrich the rest of our days. Rekindle old friendships, knowing that true friends stand tall regardless of distance. Commit to fostering kindness, generosity, and helping hands wherever our paths lead next.

Let us savor every second of this special night! Reminisce about the good times, share stories of triumphs and challenges, and laugh until our sides hurt. We’ve got a great band tonight SHAG sponsored by your truly, Brad Bence, and Russell Newman. So let’s party like it’s 1974!

To all of you, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for being a part of this reunion, for the friendships we have forged, and for the indelible mark we continue to make on the world. May this reunion be a  celebration of the past, a renewal of friendships, and a reminder of what we all mean to each other.

So let’s raise our glasses to the class of 1974!  May this evening be filled with laughter, joy, and a renewed sense of camaraderie. Here’s to the unforgettable memories of our time at Menomonee Falls North and to the many more memories we will create together in the years to come..
